Hanleys Farm Box Culvert
Client: Base Contracting
Date: November 2023 - May 2024
Value: $360,000
Description:
Base Contracting engaged Strata Civil to undertake all installation and construction of the Hanleys Farm to Jacks Point box culvert. This culvert provides a bridge across a drainage reserve, linking the two communities together.
The works had several challenges, mainly working over top of live services and below a running water course. The scope of works included,
-Lower live 11KV power main to 1m below work subgrade level. Work above this for duration of project.
-Pour reinforced concrete surround to sections of the 225 Rising Sewer main, in order to protect shallow sections of pipe through the construction works and permanently after.
-Install temporary water diversion. This remained in place throughout the project, requiring re-alignment part way through the project in order to allow for the next staging.
-Prep Culvert subgrade, pour site concrete as culvert foundation.
-Install x24 6.7t precast Hynds Box culverts. Install x6 10.08t precast Hynds box culvert end sections. Install x2 1.69t Hynds precast wing walls. These were installed with the 2 northern rows first, with all works completed, followed by the southern row. Allowing for staging of temporary water diversion.
-Install all insitu poured reinforced concrete aprons.
-Install Timber pole retaining walls and tie backs. The ideal post embedment depth could not be achieved in some areas due the live services below, so tie back posts were included as part of the design.
-Form and pour concrete fence nibs.
-Install Moddex BR40 Bridgerail, powder-coated black.
-Install decorative concrete strips with large river rock placed throughout the concrete.
