Koko Ridge Terramesh Wall

Client: Base Contracting

Date: August 2021 - November 2021

Value: $120,000

Description:

The access road to the new Koko Ridge subdivision development required construction of a max 6.6m tall x 70m long Terramesh Reinforced Earth Retaining Wall. The face units for this wall tallying to approximately 300m2.

Strata Civil were engaged by Base Contracting to construct the wall and manage the approximately 3000m3 of earthworks behind the wall.

To begin the construction, an 11KV power cable required shifting, then firm environmental controls needed to be put in place due to the very steep nature of the earthworks and close proximity to neighbouring homes. A Covid lockdown slowed the process by several weeks, although once the crew could return to site social distancing protocols were put into place and the remainder of construction moved seamlessly.

The top 2 rows of Terramesh Baskets were customised to follow the longitudinal gradient of the road above, and allow for installation of a balustrade in which the piles could tie in with the cages. Grass seed was mixed consistently throughout the topsoil face of the wall, ensuring a good grass strike. The grass covered wall now blends in with its surroundings.
