Skyline Top and Bottom Terminals
Terramesh Walls
Client: Faulks Investment
Date: November 2021 - February 2022
Value: Top Terminal $180,000. Bottom Terminal $64,000
Description:
Faulks Investments engaged Strata Civil to construct two separate Terramesh reinforced earth walls, as part of the Skyline Gondola upgrade. The Top Terminal Terramesh wall provided the foundation for the new Gondola Top Terminal Building, while the Bottom Terminal Terramesh Wall provides a foundation for a road widening to the new multi story carpark.
The Top Terminal required a wall of maximum 4.8m tall, consisting of approximately 120m2 of face units and 450m3 of earthworks. Access for this project required a high level of planning and execution, due to the extremely steep nature of the works, very limited access for materials, and high volumes and other trades onsite. These were all completed whilst the Gondola remained open to the public for sightseeing, luging and mountain biking.
These works included the removal of a section of old luge track, installation of new luge tunnel pipes, relocation of an existing 11KV power cable, and soil stockpile management along the access road.
The Bottom Terminal Terramesh Wall consisted of a maximum 4.2m height, with approximately 90m2 face units and approximately 400m3 of earthworks. Access was again challenging on this site due to limited access and high volumes of other work activity in the area. The works required the re-alignment of 20m of live sewer, and close approach to multiple other services.
